Aquilegia

Posted on: June 7th, 2011 by melissa No Comments

The Aquilegia in my garden are almost over now.  I leave them to set seed scatter.  I think all the ones you see here are the result of the marriage between posh”Nora Barlow” and “Aquilegia Vulgaris”.  The name Aquilegia comes for the latin for eagle as the petals are supposed to resemble and eagles’s claw. I prefer the common name Columbine which makes me think of flower fairies and the tragi comic pair Harlequin and Columbine from the Commedia dell’Arte.  The leaves disappear beneath the later flowers but I know they will return next spring in a slightly different form in unexpected places, like a lovely vagrant.

Dr Mark Collins Birthday Party

I was thrilled to do the flowers for my friends, Ros and Mark Collin’s, stylish garden party in Roehampton this Saturday Night.  Lots of shrinks and drinks and fab food by Effortless Eating.
